Match Report v Glenflesk

Our senior footballers traveled to Glenflesk last Saturday evening to take on the league leaders in round 4 of the county league. A late change before the game saw league debutant Darragh O’Connor come in for Liam Palmer. The playing conditions were not great as we had showers both before and during the match.

Glenflesk looked lively for the first 10 minutes and went 2 points ahead with some well-worked moves. Jimmy Lehane kicked a lovely score to get us off the mark on the 6 minute soon followed by a free from Darren Allman. The home side kicked 2 more points so by the twenty-minute mark we were 4 pts to 2pts down. By this time, we were playing some nice football and defensively solid, Darren kicked another free and soon followed points from Kevin O Sullivan (2), our goalkeeper Kieran Fitz and Darragh O’Connor just before the break. At half-time, Kenmare led 7pts to 5pts.

A Tommy O’Sullivan penalty which was sweetly struck, and a late David Hallissey-fisted goal saw us over the line in this encounter. Three wins and a draw from our first four games see us sit proudly on the top of the Division 2 table. Let’s hope we can stay there.
