Gaelic Footballers

2010 saw us promoted as champions from Division 3 to great joy for all club supporters under the guidance of Pj Reidy. Since then we have mainly operated in Division 2 with stints in Division 1 in 2017 and in 2020. We were  crowned division 2 champions under the management/training of Dj Brennan in 2019.
Kenmare Shamrocks were crowned Kerry Junior football Champions in 2012 under the guidance of Pat O Connor. Then in the Junior club all Ireland semi-final we took part in a trilogy of epic battles with Dublin’s Castleknock which we ultimately prevailed victorious on the hollowed turf of Croke Park but unfortunately, we lost the final to Galways Ballinasloe.
We were crowned Kerry Intermediate club champions in 2016 with John Morgan O’ Sullivan  as manager but on a wet day in Ennis we were beaten in the All Ireland club intermediate semi-final by Westport after extra time.
Kenmare Shamrocks GAA senior footballers have reached the Kerry Senior club final both in 2018 and 2020 but unfortunately beaten after extra time on both occasions. The club has being very competitive in the Kerry county championship also since moving up to this grade in 2017.
The club has been honored and blessed to have so many committed and talented players progressing together from underage to senior level in recent years.
The Kenmare Shamrocks GAA club takes great pride in having players  picked to represent Kerry. We had Paul O’ Connor in the naughties and currently Stephen O’ Brien, Sean O’ Shea, Kieran Fitzgibbon and Kevin O’ Sullivan (Arthur) on the Kerry Senior team panel.
Kieran Fitzgibbon, Dara O’ Shea, and Kevin O’ Sullivan(Arthur) all won All Ireland Junior titles with Kerry in 2017.
During the Kerry Minor five in a row All Ireland titles , brothers Dara & Sean O’ Shea(Captain in 2016)and the McCarthy cousins, Dan & James, a few years later were to the fore.
Since 2019 Kenmare Shamrocks has entered a 2nd team in the Kerry County league plus we have been accepted to play in the East Kerry O Donoghue Cup from 2020 onwards.

Hurlers

Kenmare Shamrocks have always been to the fore in the hurling scene in Kerry. Although that has somewhat weakened over the past number of years, there is a positive outlook for our young hurlers coming through.

Going back through the years we have has some great success. In 1984 an All-Ireland Feile na nGael under 14 hurling title was won. This was a massive achievement by our small club. In 1983 a County minor hurling title was won, the first since 1959. A further minor title followed in 1988. In 1987, ’88 and 1989 three U21 Co. Hurling titles were won. There has been more hurling success with Kerry Intermediate titles in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017. Currently our senior team play in Division 2 of the Kerry hurling league.
